Our weekend in and around Davidson is chock full of intriguing possibilities: A new musical combo Blue Rooster makes its Davidson debut tonight (Thursday), leading off a weekend of local music at Summit Coffee. Saturday morningweekendcal it’s “Bee Day” at the Davidson Farmers Market, focusing on bees and beekeeping. Saturday, the Lake Norman Family YMCA has its Live at the Lake Hawaiian Luau fund-raiser, morning running race and fun day. (Volunteers needed. See below.)

Onstage, “An Empty Plate in the Grand Cafe du Boeuf” continues at Warehouse Performing Arts Center, Cornelius. It’s “Girls Night Out” on the McConnell Green Friday night with a free movie screening of “Mama Mia” in a neighborhood fund-raiser for the Avon breast cancer walk coming up in October.

Also Friday, Creative Art Exchange in Cornelius hosts an opening reception for its new exhibit “Interwoven,” with works by two artists. And Sunday brings the Beatles tribute band Abbey Road Live to the Village Green for another Downtown Davidson Inc. Concert on the Green.

THROUGH JUNE 20, Warehouse Performing Arts Center, 9216-A Westmoreland Road, Cornelius – Warehouse Productions presents “An Empty Plate in the Grand Cafe du Boeuf,” by Michael Hollinger. Directed by Jim Esposito. Set in Paris in 1961, it’s about a wealth American expatriate who owns the Grand Cafe. It’s a dark comedy that features the joys of cooking, sex, bullfighting and works of Ernest Hemingway. Featuring actors Lou Dalessandro, Cat Rutledge, Matt Merrell, Rachel Jeffreys, Christian Love and Joseph Peterson. DAVIDSON DASH SHUTTLE BUS – Mondays, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Town of Davidson has begun service on a weekly shuttle bus called Davidson Dash. The bus will visit downtown, South Main Street, Sadler Square and the Harris Teeter shopping center near Exit 30. Cost: $1 per roundtrip.
