Dylan tribute and a Concert on the Green

Looking for some music? This is the weekend for it. Things kick off Thursday night with live music at Summit Coffee downtown, featuring The Sandcrawlers and Perry Fowler. Friday weekendcalthrough Sunday in Union Grove, Iredell County, it’s the 85th Ole Time Fiddlers and Bluegrass Festival, which claims to be the oldest continuous festival of its kind. On Saturday, a host of Summit Coffee regulars plays the sixth annual Bob Dylan Tribute. And Sunday afternoon brings another Downtown Davidson Inc. Concert on the Green, with rock and roll from Sound Barrier. Also this weekend, don’t forget the Davidson Farmers Market Saturday. And  Sunday morning, Doug Oldenburg speaks in the Faith and Economy lecture series at DCPC.

THURSDAY, MAY 21, 7 p.m., Davidson United Methodist Church, Room 216, 233 S. Main St.  – The non-profit Men in Balance [1] presents a workshop on “Wolf Add the Door: Economic Worry Clinic.” Discussion about how the economy is affecting men and their families. Come learn you are not alone.

FRIDAY, MAY 22 to SUNDAY, MAY 24, Fiddler’s Grove Campground, Union Grove, Exit 65 off I-77, Iredell County – 85th Ole Time Fiddlers and Bluegrass Festival, which claims to be the oldest continuous festival of its kind. More than 50 traditional bands in old time and bluegrass divisions, junior and senior categories, will vie for Fiddlers Grove championships. Camping, food, music and other events for families. FRIDAY, MAY 22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., downtown Mooresville – It’s race week at Lowe’s Motor Speedway and Mooresville (Race City) is celebrating with a variety of events. Today, it’s Race City Pit Stop, with race cars and car haulers on display; Carol Gordon Bickford and Martha Earnhardt will be signing their cookbooks, and they’ll have a silent auction to benefit Serenity House.  Also this weekend, race shop tours at Dale Earnhardt Inc. SATURDAY, MAY 23, 8 a.m. to noon, downtown Davidson next to Town Hall – Davidson Farmers Market, with local farmers and vendors selling meats, produce, dairy products, baked goods, and other items. Music this week by Lake Norman Jam, members of the Charlotte Folk Society who play every third week. Kids are invited to guess the number of seeds on a strawberry and taste chocolate-dipped strawberries. A representative from DavidsonReads will at the community table. DAVIDSON DASH SHUTTLE BUS – Mondays, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Town of Davidson has begun service on a weekly shuttle bus called Davidson Dash. The bus will visit downtown, South Main Street, Sadler Square and the Harris Teeter shopping center near Exit 30. Cost: $1 per roundtrip.
