MOORESVILLE – Lake Norman Regional Medical Center has introduced a new program called “Senior Extra,” offering health screenings, meetings and health information programs on the first Wednesday of each month, 3 to 4:30 p.m., at the hospital, off I-77 Exit 33. The Nov. 3 session features Dr. Peyton Davis of Mooresville Surgical Associates speaking on “New, Incision-less Surgical Solution for Chronic Acid Reflux.”

A member of the North Mecklenburg Senior Center picks out a fan from those donated by McGuire Nuclear Station employees.
McGuire Nuclear Station in Huntersville collected close to 70 fans in a recent “Beat the Heat” fan drive for seniors. The fans, which were donated by employees, were given to North Mecklenburg Senior Center in Cornelius.
The center’s director, Joanne Ahern, was happy to receive the donations. “These fans are so necessary for the health and safety of elderly adults in our community, especially since it has been so horribly hot,” Ms. Ahern said.

The 3rd annual North Mecklenburg Senior Center Hawaiian Luau fund-raiser will be Wednesday Aug. 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Senior Center, at The River Church, 18731 W. Catawba Ave. Cornelius. The luau is open to the public and includes food, games, entertainment, a bake sale and a silent auction. Read the full story
