You never know what you will do when tragedy hits you. You hear the news and Boom! What do you do? Where do you find the strength to climb that mountain? What I am discovering first hand is that people have a will to live. They look for hope and optimism in every word they hear. Before they have time to think, emotions drive them to doing whatever is necessary.
I am in Florida to visit my friend and care for her while she goes through the treatment to cure her cancer. I am witnessing the plight of a very brave woman. I think you just instinctively take the next step that needs to be taken. You barely have time to think, you barely have a moment to change your mind, and you find yourself just doing what the doctors tell you and of course you ask the necessary questions and hope for the answers that will bring comfort. Bravery is a very strong emotion and it seems to take over the reality of the circumstances.
I also had time to visit with other people that were going through similar treatments. It amazed me how they were able to put on a happy face while sitting in the doctor’s waiting room. But that is exactly what we do. Where there is hope there is life.
