Davidson Farmers’ Market hosts the last of its summer/fall markets this Saturday, Oct. 29, when sales will be open 8 a.m. to noon next to Town Hall. And market organizers already are planning a kickoff for the winter season on Saturday, Nov. 5, when they’ll host a Winter Market Chef Challenge – a sort of local food “Iron chef” competition.
The winter markets will run alternating Saturdays, 9 a.m., to noon, in the same location as the regular season market, off Main Street.

White Chicken Chili

Fall is my favorite time of year to cook and comfort food is usually what’s for dinner. A couple years ago I managed to procure this fantastic recipe for White Chicken Chili. Red Mango, an international frozen yogurt and smoothie chain, has made its way to Davidson. The Red Mango store opened Friday at 536 Jetton St., in the Davidson Commons shopping center near Harris Teeter.
The self-serve shop, which originated in South Korea, features flavors such as Mango, Dark Chocolate, White Peach, and Madagascar Vanilla. It’s among more than 130 Red Mango stores now open for business across the country. The company was just named the No. 1 Zagat Rated Frozen Yogurt and Smoothie Chain in America.
