Farmer’s market open Sat., chili & beer coming Feb. 16

Davidson Farmer’s Market returns this Saturday, Feb. 2, with meats, produce and other items from local farmers and vendors. The market runs 9am to noon, off Main Street, next to Town Hall, 216 S. Main St. Meanwhile, the market in two weeks (Feb. 16) will host its annual Breakfast of Champions, in cooperation with Summit Coffee. This year’s Saturday morning feast will feature chili and beer.
BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS
On Sat., Feb. 16, 10:30am to noon, the Davidson Farmer’s Market and Summit Coffee will again come together for a Breakfast of Champions. And this time – it’s chili and beer!
Tickets will be on sale on Sat., Sat. Feb. 16 only, starting at 9 a.m., while supplies last. 60 tickets will be sold for $10 each. Every ticket holder may sample two bowls of local, market-fresh chili made by market vendors Millstone Meadows and Chef Charles Catering. Four North Carolina beers will be offered by Summit Coffee. Hot cider will be available too.
“Our first Breakfast of Champions was held in February 2011, featuring brats, sausages, hot dogs and beer. Market goers were bundled-up, sharing local food, drink and friendship,” said market manager Courtney Spear. “This year we’ve asked two vendor chefs to create their own signature market chili and challenged them to use as many market ingredients possible.”
Breakfast of Champions is just one of several market events offered to help demonstrate the great taste of local food and to create excitement for shoppers and vendors.
