^[1]Restaurant notes this week: Taco Mac has opened off Sam Furr Road in Huntersville, offering its signature Buffalo wings as well as Mexican food and microbrews. Meanwhile, the Lake Norman area is in line to get Melting Pot later this fall, off Exit 25 in Huntersville. Donato’s Pizza in Davidson has shut its doors. And Wednesday night is “Drink Pink” night at Flatiron Kitchen + Taphouse in Davidson, hosted by Davidson College’s Connor House.

• Taco Mac has opened at 8700 Sam Furr Road, across from Birkdale Village, Huntersville. That’s off Exit 25, if you measure distance by the exits. The restaurant was founded in Atlanta by a bunch of guys who wanted to a place to get their favorite Buffalo-style chicken wings. It’s now a regional chain, also offering burgers, soups, salads, Mexican food and brews. You’ll also find TVs to watch your favorite games. Hours and other info in our restaurant guide. ^[2]
• The Melting Pot, known for its tasty cheese, chocolate and other fondu meals, plans to open a Lake Norman area outlet this fall. It’s in the former Fuddrucker’s spot at 16625 Statesville Road, off I-77 Exit 25, in Huntersville. (That’s near the Chili’s.) According to postings on its Facebook page ^[3], the restaurant is shooting for a late November opening. They’ve got pictures of the renovations nearing completion.
• Donato’s Pizza, in Davidson Commons (Harris Teeter) shopping center off I-77 Exit 30 in Davidson, shut its doors in September as the group consolidates its area operations at its Huntersville location. Donato’s had opened at the space in October 2008 ^[4].
• Flatiron Kitchen + Taphouse, 215 S. Main St., Davidson, hosts “Drink Pink” night, with drink specials, a special 3-course $30 dinner, and music. A portion of the proceeds from certain drinks and food will go to Friends for An Earlier Breast Cancer Test and the American Cancer Society. Alexis V and the Mike Orlando group will provide music from 8 to closing. The event is organized by Conner House. Meanwhile, if you’re making Thanksgiving plans, save the date: Flatiron will be open Thanksgiving this year, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. , with a special turkey dinner menu for $24.95. They’ve got about 30 reservations already, according to manager Chris Mallery.
