Market offerings mark end of summer, start of fall

With autumn now upon us officially, if not weather-wise, the Davidson Farmer’s Market continues its weekly run on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon next to Town Hall. Market Manager Mary Jane Leach says be on the lookout this week for foods that mark the turn of seasons.
“Late September food is worth celebrating. The intersection of end of summer and beginning of fall makes for some exciting culinary adventures. Salad greens are rolling in, the arugula from Coldwater Creek and leaf lettuces from Barbee Farms are awesome, swiss chard, turnip and mustard greens from KC Farms are fresh and tender.”
The market is a non-profit organization. It runs every Saturday in downtown Davidson. More information is at www.davidsonfarmersmarket.org [1].
MARKET NEEDS VOLUNTEERS
The market needs volunteers for setup and take-down.
Early morning volunteers are needed from 6:45 to 8 a.m. Saturday, putting up tents and tables. For take-down, volunteers are needed from noon to 1 p.m. The market also needs volunteers during sale hours to staff the Davidson Farmer’s Market table.
