North Carolina House Speaker Thom Tillis (R-Cornelius) fears the country is “moving from a work ethic to a dependency ethic” under President Obama’s leadership, he said to a small crowd gathered Wednesday at the North Mecklenburg Victory Office on Magnolia Estates Drive.
Rep. Tillis held a press conference at 10:30 a.m. at the office during which he discussed welfare reform and encouraged people to vote for presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
Also at the press conference, Charlotte resident Desiree Zapata-Miller shared her family story – since 2008, her husband, oldest son, sister, and most recently herself, have all lost their jobs, and are unemployed despite their desire to work. The daughter of Honduran immigrants, Ms. Zapata-Miller was raised with a strong work ethic, she said, and lacks confidence in President Obama’s plans for the economy.
