Mecklenburg County was under a tornado warning by the National Weather Service until 12:30 p.m. today. There was no immediate danger, but the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools activated safety plans, which included moving students out of mobile classrooms. The threat of rain has forced cancellation of the first 2008 Concert on the Green, by the Davidson College Symphony and Jazz Ensemble. which had been planned for 6 this evening. Organizers had hoped to pull it off, but decided early this afternoon to cancel. DavidsonNews.net is the sponsor for the washed out event.

HAMMERS 2008 calendar
Photographers are invited to submit entries for a 2009 photography calendar to be published as a fund-raiser for the Davidson Housing Coalition’s HAMMERS emergency home repair program.
