Davidson Day names admissions director

Anne Buechler

Anne Buechler, a longtime teacher and school administrator, has been named director of admission at Davidson Day School, the school announced Friday. Mrs. Buechler is now a language arts teacher and sports coach at the school. She’ll start the new job at the end of the school year.

Deaths: Dr. William “Bill” Wubben

Dr. William D. “Bill” Wubben, a resident of The Pines at Davidson since 1988, died Friday, May 2, 2008. He taught economics at Davidson College from 1960 to 1963 before joining the faculty at UNC Charlotte in 1964. He chaired the UNCC Department of Economics from 1971 to 1976 and retired in 1988. Holocaust ceremony on the Green Thurs.

Thursday, May 1, is Holocaust Remembrance Day, and Beth Shalom of Lake Norman is planning a candle-lighting ceremony at 7 p.m. on the Village Green, at Main Street and Concord Road. Survivors will deliver first-hand accounts and student anti-genocide activists will speak as well.
