St. Alban’s will sponsoring a golf tournament Oct. 20 at River Run Country Club to raise money to build a Habitat for Humanity house. It will be a day of great food, great golf, lots of contests and a chance for golfers to enjoy the sport and make a difference in others’ lives.

H. Marc Cathey, a Davidson native, horticulturist and former director of the U.S. National Arboretum died Wednesday, Oct. 8. He was 79. A memorial service is planned Sunday, Oct. 12, at 3 p.m. in the Davidson College Presbyterian Church sanctuary. A reception will follow in the Congregation House.
