On Tuesday, May 21, the W.A. Hough High School PTSA awarded scholarships to eight seniors who contributed to the community through leadership, advocacy or service during their high school years and were positively impacted by their experience. The selection committee consisted of local town leaders and Hough parents.

RALEIGH - Hough’s defense of its state 4A women’s soccer title ended in disappointment Saturday afternoon when the Huskies fell 2-0 to Green Hope, last year’s runners up. See a story and photos in SPORTS»
Also in Sports, Lake Norman Charter won the 1A championship, 6-3 in overtime, over Raleigh Charter.
And South Iredell fell short in its bid to win the 2A title, losing 3-0 to Swansboro.

CHARLOTTE - Hough High’s Huskies are through to the 4A state championship game, following a tight 1-0 overtime win at Myers Park Tuesday. CORNELIUS – Several hundred parents and students filled the gymnasium at W.A. Hough High School Wednesday night, looking for information and reassurance about safety at the school after a series of security scares over the past week. Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools leaders did their best, but at times there seemed a huge gap in expectations and even in some audience members’ perceptions of the incidents. Read the full story

CORNELIUS – Wednesday brought more confusion and concern at W.A. Hough High School, where police were on patrol, and fresh rumors circulated among students about supposed threats. As with bomb hoaxes and other incidents over the past week, no real threats were found Wednesday. But the latest rumors continued to feed what principal Terri Cockerham is calling “turmoil” at the school. She is blaming students’ use of social media for the uneasy atmosphere and has called a meeting Wednesday night to address the situation with parents. Read the full story
