NBA basketball all-star and former Davidson College player Stephen Curry hosted the 5th annual Curry Celebrity Classic golf tournament Monday, June 16, 2014, at River Run Country Club. It was a major fundraiser for the Ada Jenkins Center, a regional social services center on Davidson’s West Side, where Curry volunteered when he was a student at Davidson College. And it was part of Steph Curry’s effort to use his notoriety to do a little bit of good off the court. He, his father Dell Curry and Georgia Krueger of Ada Jenkins Center talked to us about the tournament and giving back.

Shooting ace Stephen Curry keeps adding to his basketball resume, this past season making his first appearance in the NBA All Star Game. That gives Curry more clout, on and off the court. Thanks to stepped up recruiting, Davidson College’s international student population has been growing in recent years, Chinese students in particular. This week for the first time, students picked one of their foreign-born peers as their leader.

Zi Yang, a sophomore from China, beat Pablo Zevallos in a runoff Wednesday to become Student Government Association (SGA) president. Yang takes office next Thursday, Feb. 13, replacing outgoing president Chris Ragsdale.

NBA basketball stars Dell (retired) and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors are combining their passion for golf and love of community through the Curry Celebrity Classic, at River Run Country Club on Monday, June. 17.
