Blame it on the weather. We’ve just gotten word from Wilson Sadler at the Davidson Fire Department that Santa is caught in a “snowstorm” and can’t get to Davidson for his pre-Christmas rounds tonight in Davidson. He’ll be out around town on Tuesday night, same time, 6-8pm …

Santa and Mrs. Claus joined children and a stream of family, friends and supporters Wednesday night at the annual holiday party of the Davidson Cornelius Child Development Center, on Gamble Street.
Children snacked on holiday treats, decorated cookies, made holiday arts and crafts and sat in Santa’s lap. Lake Norman Kids for Kids volunteered, helping out with the activities.
Visitors were treated to songs and skits from each age group, from the youngest (the tadpoles) to the oldest (the frogs), and in the poliwogs in between. The older group, as part of the center’s Spanish immersion program, sang two songs in English and then two in Spanish. Read the full story

Every year on an evening just before Christmas, Davidson Fire Department helps Santa Claus make an early tour of local neighborhoods perched on a fire engine. This year’s visit is scheduled today (Wednesday, Dec. 22), from 5:30-8 p.m. Just listen for the siren. Santa usually inspects the town’s larger streets – if you live on a dead-end, you’ll have to catch him on a nearby street.
