Inspection delays are holding off the opening of the Rushco Davidson Market off I-77 Exit 30, but one of the developers said Wednesday he thinks the market and gas station could be open within 7 to 10 days. Meanwhile, the owners are seeking tenants for the shop’s second-floor office space.
“We’re on the verge of getting open,” said Bobby Rusher, of developer Rusher Oil Co. in Salisbury. Mr. Rusher said the new market has been held up awaiting final inspections. He said Wednesday that workers will start stocking the store next week and the shop could be open as early as the end of next week, around June 24. Read the full story

With the Dec. 30 demise of Mooresville’s 83x commuter bus to Charlotte, area transit officials are planning for an influx of riders on the 77x bus, which runs to and from Davidson. Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is adding a park-and-ride location off I-77 Exit 30 to accommodate additional riders on the 77x.

Downtown Davidson Inc., the association of local merchants, will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, Oct. 14, to elect officers and meet with Davidson’s Mayor and Town Board. Also below, Sanctuary of Davidson on Main Street has expanded its space and begun offering classes and parties. Former Davidson town planner Parviz Moosavi has opened a private planning consultancy. Ingersoll Rand has named a new general counsel, and he’ll be relocating to the company’s Davidson offices. And we have a couple of new business notes.

Rushco Davidson Market under construction at I-77 Exit 30 may be unlike any highway-exit gas station you’ve ever seen. That observation by Commissioner Margo Williams came during a presentation at the Davidson Town Board’s monthly work session Tuesday night.
