Workers delivered a truckload of pumpkins to a lot off I-77 Exit 30 Tuesday. They’ll be sold through Oct. 31 at the vacant site near the roundabout at Davidson Day School. He’ll also be talking up his Christmas tree sales on the same site coming in November. (David Boraks/DavidsonNews.net)
A truckload of pumpkins was unloaded Tuesday afternoon at a temporary sales lot off I-77 Exit 30, near Davidson Day School. Scott Smith, owner of Scott’s Tree Farm in Sparta, in western N.C., said he’ll be selling pumpkins and gourds there through Oct. 31.
The pumpkin sales are a prelude to Mr. Smith’s main business, Christmas Trees. He said he’ll be back in November with a truckload of trees.

An army of young volunteers unloaded pumpkins from trucks Wednesday to stock the Great Pumpkin Patch for Missions at the Davidson United Methodist Church’s Molly McKay Youth House on South Main Street.
The Pumpkin Patch was scheduled to open Thursday, Sept. 29, at noon and run through Halloween, Monday, October 31st. Items for sale include pumpkins of all sizes, decorative corn, gourds, baked goods, and more. Proceeds will go toward youth mission trips at the church. Read the full story
