DC Force Blue, an all-star team of Davidson and Cornelius 9 and 10 year olds, won the 2010 PONY Mustang division tournament this weekend at Mallard Creek Park in Charlotte. The team now heads to the regionals in Virginia this coming week. Details in Sports, CLICK HERE>

If you drive down South Street any night this week, you’ll see an unusual amount of mid-summer activity on McEver Fields, across from Davidson Elementary School. It’s high season for youth baseball, and our town is playing host to two tournaments: the Pony East Zone South Region Tournament, for 13-14-year-olds, and the Bronco zone championships for 11-year-olds. Davidson-Cornelius All-Stars lost 6-5 to the Mazatlan All-Stars from Sinaloa, Mexico, Sunday night in the final game of round-robin play at the Pony 13 baseball World Series in Chino Hills, Calif. Mazatlan, which has not lost in the series yet, moves on to today’s championship round. Read the full story

Davidson-Cornelius All-Stars lost their first round game Friday but rebounded with a win Saturday to stand at 1-1 in the Pony-13 World Series in Chino Hills, Calif.
They face tournament leader Mexico (2 wins) today (Sunday) at 5 p.m. local time, (8 p.m. in Davidson) for a chance to play in the championship round. A loss would likely end their chances in the tournament. Read the full story

The DC All Stars from Davidson-Cornelius defeated Hagerstown, Md., 15-4, Tuesday in the Pony-13 East Zone baseball tournament in Davidson to advance to the national Pony-13 World Series in Chino Hills, Calif., beginning Friday. Tournament organizers said it’s the first time a local team has ever played its way into the national championship series. Read the full story
