HUNTERSVILLE – When Hough High School opened in the fall, it took students from North Mecklenburg and Hopewell high schools and created some pretty intense rivalries that students say sometimes got a little too rowdy during football and basketball games this year.
“It’s been a trifecta of rivalry,” said Hopewell High junior Catherine Jackson-Jordan. “It wasn’t bad at first, but then there was some vandalism involved.”

Students said they wanted to do something positive involving all three schools to help make the rivalry a little friendlier.

McKinney Academy is partnering with the Foundation for Respect Ability to hold a free anti-bullying concert on Sunday, March 27, at 2 p.m., at the school, 412 Armour St. in Davidson.
