More than 200 Davidson residents and college students gathered at the Davidson College Alvarez College Union Saturday night for food, traditional dancing and fireworks, marking the impending arrival of the new lunar year – the Year of the Snake.
It was the ninth straight year for the festival organized by the college’s Asian Cultural Awareness Association (ACAA). Joining ACAA in organizing most of the festivities this year was the college’s newly formed China Club. Read the full story

Monday is the Asian Lunar New Year, as the Year of the Dragon chases out the Year of the Rabbit. In Asia, the observance stretches to a week as people return home to visit friends and relatives and to feast. Davidson College’s Asian Culture & Awareness Association will host its annual Lunar New Year party, with performances and fireworks on Saturday, Jan. 28. Read the full story

A swarm of kids, parents, college students and local residents tried their hands at calligraphy and paper folding, snacked on Asian food, and watched dance and kung-fu demonstrations Sunday night at Davidson College’s annual Lunar New Year fest.
