It was a beautiful day for some kickball Saturday, April 13, as the brothers of Davidson College’s Kappa Sigma Fraternity and women of Connor Eating House staged their the third annual Frankelfest Kickball Tournament. Since 2011, the tournament has honored the life and memory of John Frankel, a Davidson College senior and then-vice president of Kappa Sigma, who passed away in a car accident during the 2010 winter break. Davidson College students are preparing for the annual Dinner at Davidson, a student-led fundraiser for the college’s Davidson Trust financial aid program. The April 6 dinner for the community is part of an expanded two-week celebration promoting the college’s efforts to make itself more affordable and help students graduate without loans. Golfers will tee it up May 13 at River Run Country Club in Davidson at the 2nd Annual Swing Fore A Child’s Place golf tournament May 13, raising money to help homeless children to attend summer camp. Area Lions Clubs are hosting their 11th annual Lake Norman Regional Golf Tournament on Monday, April 22, at Northstone Country Club in Huntersville. A new $3 million performing arts center is a major focus of the campus expansion.

CONCORD – Cannon School has unveiled the largest fundraising campaign in its history, a $7 million drive to pay for new arts, athletics and middle school facilities.
