When Davidson and Cornelius firefighters showed up Tuesday to check a fire alarm at 130 Harbor Place off Exit 30, most occupants of the building’s shops and offices were on their way out. But employees at the Subway sandwich shop wouldn’t budge. That brought a warning from firefighters.
Fire crews also responded to a variety of medical calls over the past week, including a false alarm at the Homewood Suites hotel caused when a six-year-old pulled an alarm box. See details below.

A tractor-trailer accident on I-77 southbound near Exit 30 on Saturday released gasoline and engine oil into Lake Norman, requiring a cleanup, according to a fire department report following the crash. The crash, which came during the weekend snowstorm, tied up traffic on I-77 for hours. Also over the past week, firefighters responded to a variety of other medical and fire calls.
