Republican Jim Pendergraph and incumbent Democrats Jennifer Roberts and Harold Cogdell Jr. won election to at-large seats Tuesday in a vote that helped Democrats hold onto a 5-4 majority on the Mecklenburg County Commission. The victory by Mr. Pendergraph, the former county sheriff, ousted incumbent at-large commissioner (and Davidson College grad) Dan Murrey.

One has to love fall in Davidson. We are still wearing shorts and short sleeves while we rake leaves, carve pumpkins and stroll to the post office or Main Street Shops. Glad to read that Kim Fleming has been named as Interim Downtown Director for Davidson. Kim has done a fine job with fund raising for our public library and her hubby, Dave, does a fine job with his writing for ESPN The Magazine. Be sure to stop at our library and read his story, “It Happens,” in the latest issue. You will smile!
Today Around Davidson visits with WOW (World of Wonder) thanks to committee member Patti McKinnon. We also introduce you to Chef Adria Appleby and her work with Camp Blue Skies. In addition we ask everyone to watch TV tomorrow evening and cheer for our very own Angie Rice-Figueroa on Wheel of Fortune! Finally catch a Noteworthy Note about Early Voting. Read the full story
