Davidson’s Town Board on Tuesday approved an agreement to participate in a public-private business incubator project that aims to foster the development of “green” businesses and jobs in town.

Also Tuesday, the board also approved a positive review of the 2008-2009 budget from its auditors, Tinsley & Terry, and voted to extend its lease with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools for use of the Ada Jenkins Center, on Gamble Street. Read the full story

Mayor John Woods was sworn in for a second term and the rest of the  2009-11 Davidson Town Board took the oath of office at the monthly Town Board meeting Tuesday night. The brief meeting also included the election of Laurie Venzon – top vote getter in the Nov. 3 election – as mayor pro tempore, or pro tem, who fills in temporarily if the mayor is absent.

Newcomers Tim Dreffer and Connie Wessner took seats at the board platform, joining re-elected incumbents Ms. Venzon, Brian Jenest and Margo Williams. Read the full story

A group of local disc golf aficionados is proposing to construct a disc golf course at the town-owned Fisher Farm Park, off Shearer Road.

The Town Board  was scheduled hear a presentation about the idea at its monthly Town Board work session tonight (Tuesday, Dec. 1). The meeting begins at 5 p.m. at Town Hall, 216 S. Main St. Also on the agenda, a report on the town’s agreement with a local caterer for management of Beaver Dam Park, off Davidson-Concord Road, and a closed session to discuss a legal matter. Davidson’s newly elected town commissioners Connie Wessner and Tim Dreffer will join returning board members Laurie Venzon, Margo Williams, and Brian Jenest at a mini-retreat and orientation session with town staff on Thursday, Nov. 19, at Lake Norman Chamber offices, 19900 W. Catawba Ave., Cornelius. Mayor John Woods, who was re-elected to a second term Nov. 5, will also be there, leading an agenda that includes an overview of town issues and discussions of how to work together over the next 2 years. Davidson’s Town Board holds its monthly meeting tonight (Tuesday, Nov. 10) at 6 p.m. at Town Hall. 3 incumbents re-elected; Dreffer, Wessner to join the board

Updated 11 p.m. Davidson voters on Tuesday re-elected 3 incumbents (Laurie Venzon, Brian Jenest and Margo Williams) and added 2 newcomers to the Town Board – Tim Dreffer and Connie Wessner.
