Town Day, a 5K road race, the Davidson Farmer’s Market, a college lacrosse tournament and other events are expected to bring crowds to downtown Davidson Saturday morning. Plan ahead to find a parking spot (see your options below). Better yet, walk or bike into town for the morning if you can.
The day’s events begin early, with the Davidson Farmer’s Market next to Town Hall. Farmers and volunteers will be on site by 6:30 setting up, and the market runs from 8 a.m. to noon.

Davidson Farmer’s Market will come out of winter mode and return for its fifth year of full weekly markets this Saturday, April 7, in downtown Davidson. As the new spring/summer season begins, the market will feature favorite veteran vendors and welcome new ones selling everything from gourmet chocolate to cheese to breakfast sandwiches. The 2012 summer season of the Davidson Farmer’s Market opens this Saturday, April 7. Volunteers were setting up over the weekend for the season-opening market, which will bring more vendors, demonstrations by Chef Vera Samuels, music by Barrie Howard, a Growing Kids Club and more.
The market runs every Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon, through October next to Town Hall in downtown Davidson.

A collection of whimsical new signs have gone up around downtown, topped with icons of local significance – a fire engines, a gnome and a farmer’s market wagon. They’re among $55,000 in new “way-finding” and parking signage being installed around town this year as the town boosts its self-marketing.
The new signs are already grabbing attention. “There are five with decorated tops,” downtown manager Kim Fleming said Friday. “We just started with five to see what the reaction would be. It’s part of our entire parking and way-finding signage program.” Read the full story

Davidson Farmers’ Market will kick off a new season of winter tailgate markets this Saturday, Nov. 5, when it hosts a Winter Market Chef Challenge – a sort of local food “Iron chef” competition. Five local chefs will cook dishes using Davidson Farmer’s Market ingredients. Story in FOOD & DINING»
