Losses at the MI-Connection Communications System narrowed slightly in the first quarter of the 2010-11 fiscal year as expenses held steady and revenues inched upward. The loss of just a net 6 cable TV customers between June 30 and Sept. 30 came even as MI-Connection lost yet another multi-customer contract at an apartment complex, in Cornelius.

For many families in north Mecklenburg, The Children’s Schoolhouse in Huntersville has been an important part of children’s lives in recent years. But the current school is only the most recent occupant of a building that traces its history to the original Caldwell Station School before 1895.
On Thursday, Oct. 14, friends and families will gather to celebrate that history and the building’s new designation as a historic landmark, as a well-preserved example of early 20th-century school architecture. The event will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the school, 17616 Caldwell Station Road, off N.C. 115, Huntersville.

Fifth Third Bank has put up for sale 104 acres at I-77 and Westmoreland Road in Cornelius that once was slated to become a massive mixed-use development called Augustalee. The Charlotte Business Journal reports that Fifth Third completed its foreclosure on the property in August and has hired Piedmont Land Sales and CB Richard Ellis to market the site, possibly for offices.
