West Side residents complained to town officials Tuesday night that some property owners are letting houses fall into disrepair and vacant lots grow over with brush, making their neighborhood unsightly and unsafe. Quizzing the board during a “Commissioner Chat,” the residents asked for help fixing the problem.
Tuesday night’s meeting at Community School of Davidson High School on Armour Street was the latest in a series of informal meetings between commissioners over the past two years. Read the full story

The Davidson Town Board will hold its next “Commissioner Chat” on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. at the Community School of Davidson High School, 404 Armour St. Meanwhile, the proposed rezoning of Davidson East is scheduled to come up again in a public forum, at Monday night’s Davidson Planning Board meeting. Davidson’s Town Board is beginning discussions about what could be a significant change in town governance: extending and staggering the terms of town commissioners. The Town Manager gave a presentation on the idea at the board’s October quarterly “mini-retreat,” and the board will discuss the idea Tuesday night at its monthly work session.
