Christ the King Catholic High School, scheduled to open this fall at a temporary site in Mooresville, will likely end up permanently in Cabarrus County, following a Kannapolis City Council vote this week to annex a 96-acre site on N.C. 73 east of the intersection with Shiloh Church and Poplar Tent roads, east of Davidson. Davidson IB Middle School students hosted a “Community Walk for Darfur” Saturday, raising more than $1,200 for the Save Darfur Coalition. Meanwhile, Davidson Day School students took second in a Battle of the Books, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is in the running for an urban education award. Also, Ramah Christian Classical students tend their gardens to grow food for the homeless, Duke TIP recognizes 11 Cannon School students, and Christ the King Catholic High School hosts a registration night for prospective families. MOORESVILLE – The proposed Christ the King Catholic High School, which hopes to open in August in Huntersville, has applications from about 50 prospective freshmen, but needs 50 more to ensure it can open this fall. Laney Edwards, the assistant principal at Davidson Elementary School, is moving to another school after eight years in Davidson. Meanwhile, CMS officials said Tuesday they will shift to “performance-based” pay beginning this year. Hough High held its first-ever homecoming last week – without a queen. Davidson Day hosts a world-renowned anthropologist for an evening talk next week. And Davidson Elementary’s Tigers on the Prowl running program begins its 8th year.
