Davidson drivers can say goodbye to the constant rejiggering of lanes on Griffith Street: The second roundabout at the Exxon station is now complete.
Workers this week are putting finishing touches on the circle, as well as at another roundabout closer to I-77. The last-minute work includes painting the lane lines, turn arrows and crosswalks around the two circles. Both circles now have two lanes, separated by white dotted stripes, in place of the double yellow lines there before. Read the full story

Catawba Avenue will be closed for about six weeks between Main Street and Potts Street, next to Fuel Pizza, beginning on Monday while Charlotte Mecklenburg Utilities constructs a new sewer line.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Utilities says the road will be closed until March 30. That means if you use Catawba to get to or from Jetton Street, you’ll have to find a detour.

The Lake Norman Navigator reports in its Feb. 8 edition that construction could begin within the next two months on a new exit off I-77 at Langtree Road, in south Iredell.
The new exit will lead the way to a planned $800 million mixed-use development off Langtree.

Roundabout completion delayed again; students discuss it on Facebook.com
Town officials say bad weather has delayed the expected completion date of the second roundabout on Griffith Street by about a month, to the end of February.
Officials had said at the Jan. 9 town board meeting they expected the work to be done by Feb. 1.
The much-delayed construction on this busy street has been a major headache for residents, including students on the Davidson College campus. Students can be heard frequently these days complaining – in person and online – about the construction and the confusing traffic patterns.

Jackson Street behind the Davidson Post office remained partly closed Wednesday as Charlotte- Mecklenburg utility workers repaired a collapsed sewer line.
Town officials had issued a notice late Tuesday afternoon alerting residents about the closure. The road is closed only for a short stretch south of the intersection with Depot Street, but is passable from Main Street to the public parking lot north of the post office.
