Cougars end Wildcats’ SoCon and home win streaks
A big second-half comeback by College of Charleston, combined with Davidson’s poor late-game shooting, abruptly halted the Wildcats’ Southern Conference win streak at 43, a game short of the conference record. The 77-75 loss, before a sold-out crowd at Belk Arena and broadcast on ESPN2, also was Davidson’s first at home in 28 games, since Appalachian State defeated the Cats Jan. 20, 2007.

BlackOut Belk night brings sportscaster Vitale, black-clad fans
Davidson takes on the College of Charleston Saturday at 6 p.m. at Belk Arena, in a game that will bring a sold-out crowd of fans wearing black – and sportscaster Dick Vitale. He’ll be sharing the mic with play-by-play commentator Dave O’Brien.
The Wildcats are aiming to tie the record of 44th consecutive Southern Conference victories in the game, which will be broadcast on cable TV channel ESPN2. The last team to win that many straight in the league was former member West Virginia (1956-60).

Davidson College Sports Information
Every summer, when Davidson College basketball player Andrew Lovedale returns to his hometown of Benin City, Nigeria, he packs his suitcases with dozens of “gently used” Davidson basketball shoes and jerseys. The Wildcat senior distributes them to children and teens in the area where he lives.
After graduation this summer, Mr. Lovedale hopes to deliver hundreds – or even thousands – of pairs of shoes and other basketball gear to young people in his hometown.
Now, he’s asking for the Davidson community’s help: On Saturday, Feb. 21, Davidson College and Samaritan’s Feet will sponsor “Kicks from ‘Cats – The Andrew Lovedale Shoe Drive.” Read the full story
