No. 30 jersey is part of the Buzzkill auction. Bidding ends Sunday at 4.
We’ve got a big weekend of fund-raising events in Davidson, from the Town Day Day Care Dash footrace Saturday to a yard sale
for missions at Church of the Good Shepherd to a pancake eating contest for Habitat for Humanity.
And last week’s news that Stephen Curry is skipping his senior year to enter the NBA draft could be a bonus for the Buzzkill fund-raising auction organized by Bryant Barr, Mr. Curry’s roommate and Davidson basketball teammate: Curry paraphernalia up for auction just got a bit rarer. A poster signed by Mr. Curry was going for $102.50 Friday morning. And a signed No. 30 jersey was up at $255.
Listen to Mr. Barr’s comment (MP3).

Teammates of Davidson basketball star Stephen Curry were quick to wish him well this week after he announced plans to skip senior year and pursue his dream of playing in the NBA. But question marks lie ahead about what the 2009-10 season will be like without the nation’s leading scorer.
Fellow junior Bryant Barr, who has roomed with Mr. Curry all three years at Davidson, has the most immediate problem: “I’m looking for a new roommate,” he laughed.

Curry announced his decision Thursday. (Tim Cowie photo)
So we’re losing Steph.
You have to feel for anyone facing a decision
as difficult as the one Stephen Curry made this week: Whether to leave one great thing behind to reach for another.
Even as he was about to answer The Question, the Davidson College basketball guard still seemed uneasy. He took a deep breath as he sat down next to Coach Bob McKillop at the microphone Thursday morning.
He looked at his coach. Coach McKillop just looked back, biting his lip. Read the full story

“Should I stay or should I go now?”
Those lyrics by the Clash have been the pressing question for Davidson College basketball sensation Stephen Curry as he has struggled over the last three weeks to decide whether to stay in college for his senior year or enter the NBA draft.
At a press conference Thursday, with his coach, Bob McKillop, at his side and his parents, high school coach and college teammates in the audience, the Wildcat junior announced he will skip his senior year and follow a lifelong dream to play as a professional in the National Basketball Association.
“He is someone who’s going to be wearing Davidson on his heart the rest of his career, even if it won’t be on his sleeve.”
Jim Murphy
Davidson College Athletic Director
