Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility Department crews responded to a grease-clogged wastewater pipe near 800 Beaty St. in Davidson on Tuesday, Dec. 31. An estimated 350 gallons reached Lake Davidson, CMUD said in a press release Thursday. Read the full story

Time to take down that Christmas tree. When you do, you can put it out by the curb on your regular trash collection day in Davidson, Davidson’s public works department says. Davidson commissioners Tuesday unanimously approved two plans that will help shape town spending on major projects in the coming years. The board also took steps to begin annexation of the Carolinas HealthCare System behavioral health hospital off NC 73. And commissioners approved funding for two projects: to design a flashing-beacon pedestrian crossing at Robert Walker Drive and Davidson-Concord Road and to renovate restrooms at Ada Jenkins Center.

South Street in Davidson was open to traffic again Tuesday after being closed because of sunken pavement that turned out to be concealing a hole beneath the road. Charlotte Mecklenburg Utilities crews spent most of Monday repairing a broken sewer pipe that had created the small sink hole.
The pavement and sewer problem had cut off traffic between the Antiquity Cornelius neighborhood and downtown Davidson.
The road was closed until late Monday night.
