Mecklenburg County Water Quality inspectors have issued Notices of Violation (NOV) for environmental problems at several construction sites near Exit 30.
The Town Board heard residents’ complaints at its Jan. 9 meeting about problems with runoff from the sites. At the town’s request, an environmental specialist from Mecklenburg County Water Quality inspected the sites earlier this week and issued violation notices to several.
The sites are to be reinspected on Thursday, Jan. 25. If violations are not corrected by then, developers can be fined $5,000 a day until the violations are corrected, according to Davidson officials.
This morning (Wednesday, Jan. 23), the town issued a media advisory listing the results of those inspections.

Davidson, Charlotte, Huntersville and Mecklenburg County will launch a new “Wipeout Waste” education campaign next month aimed at increasing the number of households that recycle.
“We plan to get the message out to residents that curbside recycling is an easy way to wipe out waste in Davidson,” Town Manager Leamon Brice said in a press release. “Davidson homeowners already do a great job of getting bins out on the curb, but we know there is room for improvement.”
