Davidson police on Tuesday arrested a suspect in an armed robbery of two skateboarders on South Street over the weekend. In Cornelius, police have arrested one of two men
wanted in connection with an armed robbery Sunday night at the Taco Bell restaurant on West Catawba Avenue, off I-77 Exit 28.

Charges follow his arrest in incident off Torrence Chapel Road

A kidnapping suspect in a case involving a school bus stop on Lake Norman was arrested Tuesday. Cornelius Police Chief Bence Hoyle told DavidsonNews that “the suspect was targeting a specific family.”
In a joint media announcement Thursday, the Cornelius and Char-Meck Police announced two arrests related to the case. Read the full story

Police moved their traffic enforcement patrols back to Griffith Street last week, where they issued 14 speeding tickets and cited three drivers for running the traffic light. Over on Jetton Street, drivers rolling through stop signs are continuing to earn themselves tickets, as 7 were issued there on Sept. 15 and Sept. 18. (More in “Traffic enforcement” below.) Meanwhile, an unknown driver plowed through a fence on Davidson-Concord Road and then fled last Friday evening. And someone stole the cash box from a kiddie ride at the Harris Teeter. Monday’s knife-point robbery in the parking lot of the Cornelius Food Lion was the big news on the police beat over the past two weeks. Cornelius police had no new information Wednesday and are still looking for a black male who threatened a 21-year-old Cornelius woman with a knife and stole $14.
Meanwhile, several auto break-ins were reported in the South Street/Walnut Street neighborhood on Sept. 3. And someone stole a moped from a Delburg Street home on Sept. 5. Read the full story

An assailant with a knife robbed a shopper in the parking lot outside the Food Lion grocery store on North Main Street in Cornelius Monday morning, according to a Cornelius Police Department incident report. The unidentified suspect has not been caught. Read the full story
