Police are investigating a complaint from three people on Kinderston Drive who witnessed a 17-year-old relative stealing jewelry valued at $10,000 from a jewelry box before leaving the scene. Officers also received a referral from the Department of Social Services in reference to an alleged sexual assault against a 2-year-old girl. Police are investigating a variety of incidents this week, including one in which a woman reportedly made repeated harassing phone calls to a man over two days. Last Thursday on Davidosn-Concord Road (N.C. 73), a Davidson driver going 55 mph struck a deer. And a Cornelius woman’s unoccupied GMC rolled out of its parking space at The Brickhouse Tavern and struck a nearby unoccupied Pontiac. No injuries were reported, but the Pontiac had to be towed. Mooresville police this week arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with the Feb. 3 robbery of a First Citizens Bank off I-77 Exit 33. In Davidson, police arrested a woman on Griffith Street on a DWI charge after she admitted to driving the right side of the road and smashing into a light pole while texting. An unknown suspect passed two counterfeit $20 bills at the Rushco Oil station, and a known suspect is under investigation for stealing $1,600 worth of jewelry from a Northwest Drive residence. News reports late Monday afternoon said one person was wounded in a shooting outside Northlake Mall, in north Charlotte. WCNC-TV reported the man’s injuries were not life-threatening. WBTV said the shooting was a drive-by.

Police are investigating two instances of intimidation this week, including one case in which a 52-year-old woman reported that a 46-year-old man has been stalking her in person and via text messages/email since December. Elsewhere, a 55-year-old man was charged with trying to pass a forged check for $978 at Aquesta Bank, and a Davidson Gateway Drive resident’s vehicle window was busted out by an unknown suspect on Tuesday. CORNELIUS – Bailey Middle School was briefly put on lockdown late Friday morning while police from Cornelius and Huntersville searched for a man who lived in the area who reportedly was threatening to harm himself.
The lockdown was brief, and the man eventually was located unharmed in Huntersville, near N.C. 73 and Mayes Road. He was hospitalized, according to Huntersville police.
Parents of Bailey Middle students were alerted about the lockdown Friday afternoon in a automated telephone call from the school.
