Police are investigating two instances of intimidation this week, including one case in which a 52-year-old woman reported that a 46-year-old man has been stalking her in person and via text messages/email since December. Elsewhere, a 55-year-old man was charged with trying to pass a forged check for $978 at Aquesta Bank, and a Davidson Gateway Drive resident’s vehicle window was busted out by an unknown suspect on Tuesday. Police on Thursday afternoon located an elderly Huntersville woman who had been missing for about 6 1/2 hours. Petrona Jarvis, 85, suffers dementia and went missing from her Huntersville home around 8 a.m. Thursday. Read the full story

CORNELIUS – Bailey Middle School was briefly put on lockdown late Friday morning while police from Cornelius and Huntersville searched for a man who lived in the area who reportedly was threatening to harm himself.
The lockdown was brief, and the man eventually was located unharmed in Huntersville, near N.C. 73 and Mayes Road. He was hospitalized, according to Huntersville police.
Parents of Bailey Middle students were alerted about the lockdown Friday afternoon in a automated telephone call from the school.

Police obtained a search warrant and broke up a teen drinking party Saturday night in the River Run neighborhood. Alcoholic beverages were seized and a 17-year-old woman is now facing misdemeanor charges of aiding and abetting underage drinking, along with resisting, obstructing, and delaying. Four other partygoers also were cited for underage drinking and resisting, obstructing, and delaying. Elsewhere, five drivers were charged with DWI on local streets over the past two weeks, and a Davidson Pointe resident reported that someone shot a BB through a side window of the home. Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are investigating a man’s death Sunday at a home on East Rocky River Road. Few details were available Sunday afternoon, but police said there does not appear to be foul play.

Six vehicle break-ins were reported Jan. 4 and 5, near Virginia Road and Winged Oak Way. Windows were busted out of vehicles in at least four of the incidents, but the only items reported stolen were $90 worth of clothing and electronics in one case, and $3 cash in another. Meanwhile, $100 worth of athletic clothing was stolen from the Lake Norman Christian School on South Street in a break-in the first Tuesday of the year. Police also are investigating an embezzlement at The Brickhouse Tavern in which an employee reportedly stole $271 from the restaurant. Police are investigating a case of credit card fraud in which an unknown suspect tried to open a line of credit at Sears with a Churchill Road woman’s driver’s license and Social Security number. In addition, officers investigated two suspicious vehicles that were parked for extended periods on Robert Walker Drive over the past few weeks.
