A man died Tuesday at a shooting range in Mooresville. The Mooresville Tribune is reporting that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the Point Blank Range on N.C. 150. Read the full story: “Few new details in suicide at Mooresville shooting range.”

Police are investigating a break-in from an attached garage on Churchill Road last Saturday, Dec. 3, in which $1,500 worth of power tools were taken. Officers also are investigating two cases of vandalism to landscaping and other property. Meanwhile, Huntersville police made an arrest this week in a string of car break-ins in the Cashion Woods subdivision. And, as we reported earlier, a Huntersville man was arrested on charges of robbing the Rushco Davidson Market at I-77 Exit 30. Read the full story

Firefighters responded to a kitchen fire in Duke Residence Hall on the Davidson College campus Sunday and found it had already been put out by a campus police officer. The blaze was caused by burnt food on the stove. Emergency personnel still spent almost an hour clearing smoke from the building and ensuring that the fire had not spread. Meanwhile, several trees and a power line blocked part of Grey Road the night of Nov. 28, and an electrical problem on Northwest Drive prompted firefighters to turn off the power to an apartment. The Rushco Davidson Market off I-77 Exit 30 in Davidson was robbed just before midnight Sunday, and a suspect was caught a short time later on West Catawba Avenue in Cornelius.

Davidson police received six incident reports on Tuesday, including two auto break-ins. Someone broke into a home on Central Park Circle, off Jetton Street, and grabbed a $700 TV. A Lakeside Avenue woman also contacted police after two suspects failed to mail her two U.S. Airways tickets she had paid for. Meanwhile, news reports said a body was found floating in Lake Norman Thurday, near Sherrills Ford. Police are investigating all of these incidents. Details may be found below. Read the full story

Davidson police and firefighters are seeking donations of gifts for needy families through their annual holiday Angel Trees, and organizers say the need is greater this year.
The trees, in the Town Hall Rotunda and at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, are decorated with ornaments bearing gift requests for children and families.
