MOORESVILLE – The Lake Norman Marine Commission could get its first look next month at a draft of new rules to improve safety among those who rent boats on the lake. But it’s not yet clear how far the rules might go.
The commission decided last month to study requiring certification or licenses for boat renters. That followed a June 25 accident in Mooresville in which a rental boat driver backed over and seriously injured a 25-year-old Charlotte woman.
Commission officials said at their meeting Monday night at Charles Mack Citizens Center that they believe the commission has the authority to adopt new requirements. Read the full story
