CORNELIUS – The charred structure of a house damaged in a fire April 8 on Meadow Crossing Lane apparently was set on fire again Saturday morning. It follows a May 31 arson fire on the same road, in the Glenridge neighborhood, and was the third suspicious fire set on the road since April. Firefighters were called to help with a rupture gas line on Swan Haven Court in the River Run neighborhood on Monday, and burnt food on a stove triggered a smoke alarm at Davidson College faculty and staff housing on North Main Street Saturday. Firefighters also investigated an alarm activation last week at The Pines at Davidosn that was caused by a toaster. Meanwhile, rescue units helped tend to a person hurt in an an early morning single-vehicle accident early Sunday on East Rocky River Road. Davidson Police are continuing to investigate the unarmed robbery from CVS that occurred last Wednesday, along with two instances of larceny from vehicles that Detective Steve Ingram believes are related. A Garmin GPS valued at $300 was stolen from a home on Twin Oaks Road, and over $1,400 worth of electronics were stolen from a vehicle on Meadowbrook Lane.

Officers are also investigating two reported instances of communicated threats and one case of a man leaving Great Clips in Davidson Commons without paying for his haircut.

Finally, an 18-year-old Mooresville man was cited for reckless driving after crashing his 2001 BMW into a drain pipe. Police say the driver was traveling at an estimated 60 mph in a 25 mph zone before the accident. NASCAR driver Kyle Busch on Tuesday pleaded guilty to driving 128 mph in a 45 mph zone in Troutman in May, the Statesville Record & Landmark reports. He was fined $1,000 and sentenced to probation and community service.

Huntersville Police Monday morning responded to a report of attempted armed robbery at the Wachovia Bank at 14215 Market Square in Huntersville.

According to police, The reporting citizen said a black male walked into the bank and gave the teller a note demanding money and threatening harm if the teller did not comply. When the teller refused and asked to see the man’s idenitifcation, he ran out of the bank and was last seen running towards the Bi-Lo grocery store. Read the full story
