MOORESVILLE – Most of the attention paid to congestion in the Lake Norman area has focused on the north-south corridor along I-77. But at a summit hosted by the Lake Norman Transportation Commission Tuesday, officials took a closer look at how to improve east-west traffic along highways 150 and 73.
NC 150 in Mooresville and NC 73 in Davidson and Huntersville are the main east-west routes through the region, providing an important thoroughfare for businesses and commuters. Officials said that widening the two-lane roads is necessary to ensure that traffic continues to flow smoothly as the region grows. Read the full story

The planning ordinance, which dictates many aspects of building design in Davidson, is up for an overhaul, and town officials are looking at changes in everything from affordable housing to building heights downtown. The issue came up again at Tuesday’s Town Board meeting and is the topic of two public meetings over the next month, including one Thursday at Town Hall.
As commissioners continue discussing the changes between now and December, they’re trying to balance two main goals: allowing growth while maintaining the town’s unique character.
