In defending the exemption to the affordable housing requirements for a 17-acre parcel off Pine Road (See “Town gives details of exemption deal,”
June 6), Mayor Kincaid states that citizens should not necessarily be concerned about whether the town got a good deal, but whether the town got a “reasonable deal.” I would like to look more closely at this deal – which occurred completely outside of the public process I believe is required by the town’s own ordinance – and let the reader decide whether we got a “reasonable deal.” Read the full story

Davidson officials are considering a one-year moratorium on new developments in an area east of town, between N.C. 73 and East Rocky River Road. Delaying new approvals would buy the town time to develop an area plan. A public hearing on the idea is scheduled at the June 12 Town Board meeting. Read the full story

Margo Williams says she’ll run for re-election this fall, hoping for a 7th term and a chance to continue working on issues such as affordable housing and managing growth.
Ms. Williams said she recently has been contemplating whether to run again. On Tuesday she said she’s in the race. “If elected, I’ll be honored to serve,” she said. Read the full story

About a dozen residents asked questions and offered comments during a public meeting Tuesday night about a proposal by Davidson and other area towns to take over the local cable TV and Internet system.
The session at Davidson Town Hall lasted a little over an hour, and included a presentation by Town Manager Leamon Brice on why Davidson, Mooresville and Troutman are interested in buying the system. Read the full story

The debate over whether area towns should buy the local cable TV and Internet system has
been quiet – and mostly theoretical – until now. But a judge’s order last week setting a price for the system puts it on the front burner.
Public hearings are planned over the next two weeks, beginning Tuesday in Davidson, on the proposal by Davidson, Mooresville, Troutman and Cornelius to acquire the former Adelphia system. Citizens can comment and ask questions and local officials will talk more about why they’re considering public ownership of the system – which they’re calling MI Connection, (MI rhymes with “my”). Their key selling point: The four towns’ 10,730 customers will see better service if the purchase goes through. Read the full story
