HUNTERSVILLE – The pastor of Southlake Presbyterian Church and the CFO at Southlake Christian Academy have resigned amid allegations of financial mismanagement. The Charlotte Observer reports that Wayne Parker, SouthLake’s CFO and former head of school, resigned Sept. 5, and Pastor Wade Malloy resigned last week. Along with utility belt, badge, and radio, Davidson police officers now carry another tool on patrol – a chest-mounted camera. Officers themselves asked for the new equipment, and while town officials see the cameras as a way to increase transparency and provide useful evidence, police also acknowledge they could raise privacy concerns.

At a presentation about the cameras at Tuesday’s town board meeting, Police Chief Jeanne Miller explained that officers are already accustomed to being recorded. Read the full story

As the need for new transportation funding outstrips the state’s budget, the Metropolitan Transit Commission is looking for new, creative ways to pay the bills. At Tuesday’s Town Board meeting, commissioners agreed to consider the MTC’s new legislative agenda at their next meeting. The agenda goes to the private sector and the federal government for funding. Also on the agenda Tuesday night was a discussion of the town’s noise and minimum housing ordinance, as well as talk of how much tree canopy developers should be required to preserve.
