The holiday season is not just a bonanza for big retailers, but also for criminals. While some thieves use hacking, viruses, or phishing scams to steal their victims’ credit card information, others rely on less high-tech theft, taking advantage of unlocked car doors or unprotected valuables.
Those warnings came from Cornelius, Davidson, and Huntersville police officers who joined Babette Stewart of Legal Shield at the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce Friday for a discussion of how shoppers can protect themselves this holiday season. Read the full story

The flow of life along the Catawba River changed dramatically about 50 years ago when Duke Energy created Lake Norman with the construction of Cowan’s Ford Dam in 1963.
The Charlotte Teachers Institute (CTI) will plumb the depths of Lake Norman – past, present and future – in a program titled “Exploding Canons: Under The Lake” on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 5:30-8pm, at Davidson College’s Lilly Family Gallery. Read the full story
