Four people were hurt – three of them W.A. Hough High School students – in a two-car wreck Thursday morning at Davidson-Concord Road and Robert Walker Drive. One of the cars rolled over in the crash, which happened just after 8am. Read the full story

Hundreds of food truck fans lined up on a chilly evening in downtown Davidson Wednesday in food truck rally and Summit Coffee community pint night that raised money for Davidson Lands Conservancy.

Food trucks included Comfort Food on Wheels, Cheese to the Mac, Cuzzo’s Cuisine, The Plated Palette, and Ruthies. They parked in the Jackson Street Parking lot behind Summit.  The cafe donated a portion of the evening’s sales to the Conservancy.

Davidson-based singer songwriter Rusty Knox provided the tunes, from a stage behind Summit.

A parade of costumed kids and parents will stroll up Main Street from Town Hall this Friday, Oct. 24, for downtown Davidson’s annual Halloween march. Merchants – from both on and off Main Street – will hand out treats to passing families. Read the full story

MOORESVILLE – Just after 10pm Tuesday, Oct. 21, the Mooresville Police Department responded to reports of an armed robbery at McAlister’s Deli, located at 601 River Highway/NC150. After arriving on the scene, officers confirmed that the business had been robbed, and immediately began searching the surrounding area for the suspect. Suspended Davidson College football quarterback J.P. Douglas made a brief appearance in Mecklenburg County Superior Court Tuesday, but did not enter a plea. Douglas was arrested early Sunday and charged with stabbing another student at Jamieson, an on-campus senior apartment. Read the full story

Developers of the Davidson Woods neighborhood have followed through on their threat to sue the Town of Davidson over its affordable housing requirement. The developers also are seeking to recover about $100,000 they paid under the town’s Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance (APFO), which has since been repealed.

The suit is the first to directly challenge the validity of Davidson’s affordable housing rules, arguing that they aren’t allowed under state law. That’s the same argument developers have made in successfully challenging other towns’ APFOs in recent years. Read the full story
