An all-day 15th anniversary celebration is planned today (Wed., Sept. 29) at the Davidson library branch on the Village Green, with music, kids’ programs and an evening reception. It’s part of the Davidson Library Task Force’s 8-week campaign to raise $175,000 to keep the branch open this year amid county funding cuts. The campaign is in its final week, and still needs $55,000 to meet the goal.

We are working on our Silver Award for Girl Scouts. Our platform is Breast Cancer Awareness & Support. We are looking for volunteers to help us make knitted/crocheted caps for women undergoing chemotherapy treatments.

We would be happy to supply the yarn or you can certainly donate from your stash. We can supply patterns if you need one, but feel free to choose whatever pattern you are comfortable with. Just please make sure the yarn is SOFT for their delicate heads :).

We will take as many as you would like to make – 1 or 10 … and we will pick them up from you. Please complete by Thanksgiving. Thanks so much for your time!

Davidson College junior John Behm has won national honors along with 21 other college football players for his off-the-field activities in and around Davidson. The Bonner Scholar has tutored at Davidson Elementary and worked with Davidson Housing Coalition and Ada Jenkins Center, among others.
