Get your paddles out: The town’s new public access canoe launch on Lake Davidson is now open for business.
The launch is part of the new 8-acre town-managed Lake Davidson Nature Preserve off Griffith Street behind Davidson Day School, off Jetton Street. The new park is the result of an agreement between the Town of Davidson and the private school and was a condition of original development approval for the school.

“The Homeless Cycle,” a short documentary film about three Davidson students’ summer 2010 cross-country bicycle journey exploring homelessness and housing issues, will be screened Monday at 5 p.m. at Davidson College student union.
Three seniors – Jon Springfield, Sarah Connette, and James Johnson – traveled 3,500 miles in 10 weeks from Maryland to Washington State. (Sarah and Jon biked, James drove the support van.)
