Six Latino families from Bailey Middle School met Tuesday night for the third of a series of meetings offered by the school as part of its Latino Outreach Program. The size of the group, though small, tripled since its first meeting two weeks ago, and Assistant Principal Stacey Wood hopes it will continue to grow in the coming weeks. Read the full story

A task force chaired by Bruce McMillen of Davidson told the Cornelius Town Board on Monday that The Cornelius Arts Center should move to a better facility within the next two years. The center is home to the Community Arts Project, which had its roots in the Children’s Arts Project and Creative Art Exchange. Spring doesn't get any better than this!

Glad  April fool’s Day is behind us and we can put the worries about a nudist colony in Davidson to rest.  Bad day when the editor of DavidsonNews.net pulls the wool over the eyes of one of his employees!  Now we can also put college basketball aside for another year (congrats to UConn’s Huskies) and think golf, NASCAR and baseball for months to come.  In the meantime, we applaud the beauty of nature at every corner in our town.  What a wonderful time of year.

A number of exciting projects are getting under way this month.  We showcase two of them today.  One is the Marnie Jude Foundation Day this Saturday and the second is an online vote for a new car for the Greene family.  We also have an agricultural note about baby chicks and ducklings. Two area homes will get some much needed repairs Friday, April 8, during the third annual Realtors Care Day.

Our Towns Habitat for Humanity, the Davidson Housing Coalition and other area sponsors are supporting the all-day event, fixing up homes in Mecklenburg and Iredell counties.

Davidson Presbyterian Church is starting fund-raising for a new church by selling tickets for a “Spring Gala Affair,” an April 9 fashion and comedy show and dance. The semi-formal event will be at Rameses Temple in north Charlotte. Read the full story
