More than 1,300 parents and children headed out to Lake Cornelius for the Lake Norman YMCA’s Family Fun Day Saturday, April 9.

HUNTERSVILLE – Davidson IB Middle School students Sophie Swallow, 12, of Davidson and Kobie Popko, 11, of Huntersville said they believe students will learn a lot from raising $65,000 to help build a house through Our Towns Habitat for Humanity.
The students joined their counterparts from J.M. Alexander, Bailey and Bradley middle schools at Bradley Middle School in Huntersville Monday for a kick off celebration with representatives from Habitat for Humanity. Read the full story

CHARLOTTE – Food, fashion, comedy and dancing were on the menu at the Rameses Temple Saturday night during the Spring Gala fund-raiser for Davidson Presbyterian Church. About 75 people gathered for the semi-formal event, which brought in donations to help the church replace its aging sanctuary on Depot Street in Davidson.

The future of the Davidson library branch on the Village Green may be a bit hazy, but work began this week on a new patio out front to be paved with bricks donated by library supporters.
The bricks, engraved with donors’ names, were incentives in a campaign that raised $211,000 last fall and winter to help fund library operations through June 30 of this year. Officials said the new patio will have 945 small bricks (4×8 inches ) and 91 larger (8×8 inch) bricks. Read the full story
