HUNTERSVILLE – Lake Norman Tennis Association’s Southern Cities Women’s Doubles Tennis Tournament last month raised $2,000 for its charity partner, Hope House Foundation, serving homeless women and children in the Lake Norman area. For former Davidson College basketball standout Andrew Lovedale, helping others achieve success has become an important part of life since graduating in 2009.

In September 2010, Mr. Lovedale founded the Access to Success Foundation as a channel for his efforts. On Monday evening, he and a team of five colleagues will depart the U.S. for his hometown of Benin City, Nigeria. They’ll be working to set up a permanent presence for the foundation, whose mission is to help under-served youth through sports, faith and education.

Father and son Stephen and Dell Curry hosted their 2nd annual Celebrity Classic Golf Tournament Monday at River Run Country Club, marshaling an army of other pro athletes and celebrities – from NFL star Muhsin Muhammad to former UNC basketball coach Bill Guthridge – to help raise money for Davidson’s Ada Jenkins Center.
