Board sets 2010 dates for quarterly retreats
Davidson’s Town Board meeting on Tuesday night, Feb. 9, includes a vote on a series of budget amendments – including cuts needed to cover a budget shortfall at the town-owned MI-Connection cable TV system. The board also will hear presentations and vote on two regional projects: the Lake Norman Regional Bicycle Plan and Carolina Thread Trail. Read the full story

Software company iQmetrix opened its U.S. headquarters in Davidson this week. iQmetrix, a Canadian company that develops business management software for the mobile phone industry, has moved its U.S. headquarters and 14 employees to Davidson, from Cornelius.
The company has leased the 6,000-square-foot third floor of 445 S. Main St., which is also home to Wooden Stone gallery. The building is managed by the Knox Group. Read the full story

A 47-year-old Davidson resident who pastors churches in North Charleston, S.C., and elsewhere in North and South Carolina was arrested in Charlotte last week on drug charges. Also, police are investigating a series of four car break-ins in the McConnell neighborhood and on Churchill Road overnight Tuesday, Dec. 8, and Wednesday, Dec. 9.

In Davidson, a local property owner and economic development consultant has conceived a Public – Private Partnership to create a unique business incubator that may serve as a model for other communities.
The initiative is called “Project for innovation, Energy and Sustainability (acronym “PiES”). Founder Kathleen Rose has formed an advisory board for PiES which includes local academic advisers for technical assistance and a local venture fund for financial assistance to member companies.
